Venturi Flow Meter – Classic Venturi Tube Design

Venturi flow meter is used to measure the flow rate of single-phase stable fluid in closed pipelines. The Venturi tube is a throttling flow sensor developed based on the Venturi effect.

1. The standard (classic) venturi is a standard throttling device designed and manufactured according to the national standard GB/T2624 and calibrated according to the national standard JJG640. No calibration is required.
2. Among standard throttling devices, it requires the shortest upstream and downstream straight pipe sections and the smallest permanent pressure loss.
3. Stable performance and high reliability.
4. Accurate calculation and low energy consumption.
5. Can be used for various dirty media such as liquid, gas, steam and two-phase flow.
6. Simple structure, easy to install and maintain.
7. The standard Venturi body is approximately 2 to 5 times longer than the pipe diameter.

Venturi flow meter Description

Venturi flowmeter is a type of differential pressure flowmeter. Equipped with differential pressure instrument, used to measure the volume flow rate of single-phase stable fluid (liquid, gas or steam) in closed pipelines. It can be used to measure complex flow problems such as two-way flow, mixed-phase flow, low flow velocity, large pipe diameter, special-shaped pipes, etc.

What is a Venturi flow meter?

Venturi Meter are used to measure the velocity of flow of fluids in a pipe. They consist of a short length of pipe shaped like a vena contracta, or the portion with the least cross-sectional area, which fits into a normal pipe-line. The obstruction caused to the flow of liquid at the throat of the venturi produces a local pressure drop in the region that is proportional to the rate of discharge. This phenomenon, using Bernoullis equation, is used to calculate the rate of flow of the fluid flowing through the pipe.

Vventuri flow meter working principle

The principle behind the operation of the Venturi flowmeter is the Bernoulli effect. The Venturi measures a fluid’s flowrate by reducing the cross sectional flow area in the flow path and generating a pressure difference. After the pressure difference is generated, the fluid is passed through a pressure recovery exit section where up to 80% of the differential pressure generated at the throat is recovered. The pressure differential follows Bernoulli’s Equation.
