Roots Wheel PD Flow Meter for Liquids

LL series Roots Wheel PD Flow Meter is one of the typical products of positive displacement flow meter. High accuracy metering for continuous or intermittent measurement of liquid flow in pipelines.

1. High measurement accuracy, large flow range and good repeatability;
2. Smooth rotation, no pressure fluctuation or vibration in the fluid in the pipe;
3. The accuracy is less affected by changes in viscosity of the measured medium;
4. The double-shell structure avoids the deformation of the metering chamber due to high pressure and ensures metering accuracy. The inner shell assembly can also be extracted for maintenance or pipeline flushing, line cleaning, and pressure testing;
5. Various counters and transmitters can be equipped as needed to realize local instructions or remote transmission of electrical signals.

Roots Wheel PD Flow Meter Description

LL Series Roots Wheel PD Flow Meter is a type of positive displacement flow meter. It is mainly composed of three parts: metering chamber, sealed coupling and counter. Sino-Inst Roots Wheel PD Flow Meter provides on-site indication of cumulative flow and instantaneous flow. Equipped with a transmitter and flow intelligent controller, long-distance measurement and control can be achieved.

Sino-Inst Roots Wheel PD Flow Meters can measure liquids with a viscosity range of 0.6~150mpa.s. DN15~DN150, maximum pressure resistance 4.0MPa. Suitable for measuring liquids with higher viscosity or applications with small flow changes, such as oil, grease, chemicals, etc.

Roots Wheel PD Flow Meter Applications

Roots Wheel PD Flow Meter Working Principle

In the measuring chamber, the roots wheels are continuously rotated by the pressure difference in the inlet and outlet of the meter driven by a couple of driving gears fixed on the shafts.

And drive the inlet liquid through the cavity to the outlet, each revolution of the roots wheels displaces fluid four times the volume of the cavity.

Roots Wheel PD Flow Meter Working Principle

The total revolutions of the roots wheels will be transferred to the mechanical counter, which can indicate the total liquid volume and instantaneous flow.

Matched pulse transmitter the roots meter can realize remote integrated flow, batch and instantaneous flow measuring and control with electrical indicator or computer system.

Roots Wheel PD Flow Meter Vs. Oval Gear Flow Meter

The main difference between the Roots Wheel PD Flow Meter and the Oval Gear Flow Meter is the measurement gear.

First of all, there are obvious differences in appearance between the oval gear flow meter and the Roots Wheel PD Flow Meter.
Secondly, when using the Roots Wheel PD Flow Meter, the two gears are stuck together. Therefore, the noise generated is not as loud as the noise generated by the two gears of the oval gear flowmeter meshing together.
Finally, regarding the two flow meters of the same caliber, the flow range of the Roots Wheel PD Flow Meter is larger than that of the oval gear flow meter.

Although the two flowmeters have many differences, they both tend to measure media with higher viscosity. It is especially suitable for measuring self-lubricating media. And it is best not to contain solid impurities in the medium. Otherwise, the gears will be worn or even damaged.

In short, the oval gear flow meter and the Roots Wheel PD Flow Meter have a lot in common, but they are also very different. Therefore, you must understand the similarities and differences between these two flow meters when purchasing.
