Working Principle of Radar Level Meter
The radar level meter transmits very short microwave pulses with very low energy, which are transmitted and received by the antenna system. Radar waves run at the speed of light. The running time can be converted into a level signal by electronic components. A special time extension method can ensure stable and accurate measurement in a very short time.
Electromagnetic waves propagate at the speed of light in the air. The distance between the radar level meter and the material surface can be expressed by the following formula:
D = (1/2) * CT
Where:
D ———The distance between the radar level meter and the material surface;
C ———The speed of light
T ———Pulse time.
Then the liquid level is:
L = E – D
Where:
L ———Liquid level;
E ———Total height of the tank;
D ———Empty height.
