Guided Wave Radar Level Transmitter Description

Guided wave radar level transmitter can measure the level of granules, powders and bulk solids. It can be used for any medium with a dielectric constant ≥1.3, and the measurement is independent of the conductivity of the medium.

The high-frequency microwave pulse emitted by the guided wave radar propagates along the detection component (steel cable or steel rod) and encounters the measured medium. Due to the sudden change in dielectric constant, it causes reflection and part of the pulse energy is reflected back. The time interval between the transmitted pulse and the reflected pulse is proportional to the distance of the measured medium.

Guided wave radar level transmitter can choose cable, rod or coaxial sleeve probe. Even in applications with steam, adhesion, foam or condensation, the instrument can provide accurate and reliable measurement values. And it can be installed in a waveguide or bypass pipe.

More Detail

What Is the Difference Between Guided Wave Radar and Radar?

Guided wave radar level transmitter and radar level meter are both commonly used high-precision level transmitters. Both can be used for level measurement of liquids, solid powders, etc.

Of course, there are also great differences between the two.

1. Different structural forms.

The biggest difference between guided wave radar level transmitter and radar level meter is the structure.

Guided wave radar level transmitter has an antenna. The guide tube is the antenna, which needs to contact the measured medium for measurement.

The radar level meter is a trumpet-shaped antenna. The measurement is non-contact.

2. Different measurement ranges

Ordinary radar level meters are commonly used on tanks of 30 or 40 meters, and can even measure up to 60m~120m.

Guided wave radar level transmitters also need to consider the stress of the waveguide rod (cable). Cable probes can reach up to 30m.

Difference Between Guided Wave Radar and Radar

3. Different working media

Guided wave radar level transmitters need to consider the corrosiveness and adhesion of the medium. Moreover, it is more difficult to install and maintain a long guided wave radar.

The waves emitted by ordinary radar level meters are divergent. When the dielectric constant of the medium is too low, the signal is too weak and the measurement is unstable. The guided wave radar level meter propagates the signal along the waveguide rod, which is relatively stable.

In addition, the general guided wave radar level transmitter also has the bottom detection function. It can be corrected according to the measured value of the bottom echo signal. Make the signal more stable and accurate.

4. Special measurement conditions

Guided wave radar has obvious advantages in some special working conditions. For example, there is stirring in the tank and the medium fluctuates greatly. In such working conditions, the measured value of the guided wave radar level transmitter with a fixed bottom is more stable than that of the radar level meter.

In addition, the level measurement in a small tank. Due to the small installation measurement space (or more interference in the tank), ordinary radar is not applicable. At this time, the advantages of guided wave radar level meter are revealed.
