Pressure Level Transmitter Working Principle

During operation, the isolation diaphragms on both sides of high and low pressure work together with the filling fluid. The process pressure is transmitted to the central filling fluid. The central filling fluid transmits the pressure to the sensing diaphragm.
The displacement of the diaphragm will move with the change of the differential pressure. This change is accurately converted into a 4-20mA DC two-wire current, voltage or digital HART output signal by the amplification circuit. To achieve pressure measurement and transmission.

Hydrostatic pressure: When a liquid is at rest, its pressure at a specific depth (h) is proportional to the height, density (ρ) and gravity acceleration (g) of the liquid. The formula for calculating the hydrostatic pressure (P) is:
P = ρ × g × h
Level measurement: Single flange pressure level transmitters sense the hydrostatic pressure exerted by the liquid column above the sensor mounted on the bottom or side of an open tank. Since the atmospheric pressure acts on the liquid surface and the diameter of the transmitter, they cancel each other out and only the pressure exerted by the liquid column is measured. This pressure is then used to calculate the liquid level (h) using the following formula:
h = P / (ρ × g)
